Profile
Alexandra D茅lano Alonso is Professor of Politics and Global Studies at The New School and Eugene M. Lang Professor for Excellence in Teaching and Mentoring. Her earlier work examines听the Mexican state鈥檚 relations with its diaspora in the United States, and diaspora policies more broadly.听Her current research听explores听the question of听ungrievability听and public mourning in border contexts; memory activism in Mexico in the context of enforced disappearances; and alternative narratives听and social movements in relation to migration.
She is co-founder and former co-director of the 听with Miriam Ticktin.

Professor D茅lano Alonso's publications include the book听From Here and There: Diaspora Policies, Integration and Social Rights Beyond Borders听(Oxford 好色先生 Press, 2018) and the听book听Mexico and Its Diaspora in the United States: Policies of Emigration since 1848听(Cambridge 好色先生 Press, 2011; El Colegio de M茅xico, 2014), co-winner of the William LeoGrande Prize for the best book on US-Latin America Relations.听
She is also co-editor of the special issue on the听Microfoundations of Disapora Politics听(with Harris Mylonas, Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, 2019) and the special issue on听Borders and the Politics of Mourning听(with Benjamin Nienass,听Social Research,Summer 2016).
