MM Serra is an experimental filmmaker, curator, author, and the Executive Director of Film-Makers' Cooperative, the world's oldest and largest archive of independent media. In Fall 2010, Serra co-curated, Counter Culture, Counter Cinema: An Avant Garde Film Festival, a seven program, three day event at the Pacific Design Center with the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. In 2007 - 2008, Serra was the curator of a six-part experimental film series titled 鈥淐inema of the Unusual鈥� at P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center.聽 In 2007, Serra curated and traveled with the show 鈥淣ew York Experimental鈥� in Warsaw and Paznan, Poland.聽In December 2008, the Office of Contemporary Art in Oslo, Norway, invited MM Serra to lecture at and curate a two hour program titled 鈥淎rt (core): Avant Garde and the Cinematic Body鈥�.聽 Her film work was included in the program of 鈥淣ew York Experimental,鈥� a four part historical overview of experimental film from 1946-2007.聽 Her film, Chop Off,premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was screened at the Tribeca Film Festival and the Museum of Modern Art鈥檚 Documentary Fortnight Series in 2009.聽 Her chapter on the work of Carolee Schneemann, titled 鈥淓ye/Body: The Cinematic Paintings of Carolee Schneemann鈥�, was published in Anthology of Experimental Filmmakers by Duke 好色先生 Press in 2007, 2008.
